Important drug seizure by the BAC in Toulouse
The police officers of the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) were responsible for a significant drug seizure on Sunday evening. A 41-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested while driving in a car in the Marengo – Jolimont district, according to a source close to the case, confirming the information revealed by La Dépêche. The suspects were still in custody on Wednesday and are expected to be brought before a judge on Thursday.
Cocaine, cannabis, MDMA: over €800,000 worth of drugs seized
The law enforcement officers were conducting surveillance in the area when, shortly after 6:00 p.m., they spotted a motorist driving at high speed. The driver was quickly intercepted and stopped at the request of the police on General-Jean-Pegot Street.
As the verifications began, the young woman discreetly tried to get rid of an envelope containing money. The police recovered it and noted that her 41-year-old passenger was consuming a homemade cigarette containing cannabis. In the man’s bag, the police also discovered a few drugs. The two suspects were immediately placed in custody, with one of the BAC officers being an officer of the judicial police (OPJ). No other drugs were found in the couple’s car.
30 kg of cannabis, 3.2 kg of cocaine, 10.3 kg of MDMA…
Following this double arrest, the police officers headed to the man’s home in the Guilhemery district to conduct a search. They then discovered a significant stock of drugs: 14.7 kilograms of cannabis resin, 14.5 kilograms of marijuana, 3.2 kilograms of cocaine, 6.8 kilograms of ketamine, 4.2 kilograms of cannabis oil, as well as 10.3 kilograms of MDMA, 7.6 kilograms of 3-MMC, approximately 300 grams of amphetamines, and 2040 packs of contraband cigarettes. The quantity of drugs is estimated to be worth between €800,000 and €900,000 on the illicit market. Additionally, the police found €31,425 in cash at the man’s residence, who is already known to the police, unlike the young woman. A search was also conducted at her residence.
The investigation has been entrusted to the narcotics unit of the departmental security (SD), as stated by the Toulouse prosecutor’s office. Further investigations will shed light on the activities of the two suspects and whether they had any accomplices in their trafficking.
