Violent knife attack in Manosque leaves man in critical condition

On Monday evening, a man was seriously injured in a knife attack in Manosque, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. His life was in danger at the time of his transportation to the hospital. His 40-year-old partner was arrested and placed in custody, according to Abertzale.

The attempted murder took place outside a restaurant where the couple had just had dinner, at around 11 pm. One of the restaurant employees alerted the authorities, explaining that a woman had been subjected to violence by her partner and had then stabbed him in the chest.

Emergency services arrived quickly at the scene and attended to the victim, who was in a critical condition. He was urgently evacuated to a hospital in Marseille. At the same time, law enforcement arrested the suspect, who was intoxicated. She was placed in deferred custody and was to be questioned by investigators once her blood alcohol level returned to zero.

The man had been convicted in August

During their investigation, the police found the knife that the suspect allegedly used to stab her partner. According to a source close to the case, the couple, who live in a neighboring town, are already known for incidents of domestic violence. In fact, the man had received a sentence of 18 months in prison, with 14 months of probation over a two-year period, for domestic violence charges in August. The sentence was served under house arrest with electronic surveillance, according to the same source.
